When the Noise Won’t Quit:

Do you ever feel like no matter how hard you try, you just can’t get ahead? Whether it’s the never-ending to-do list, a pile of laundry that multiplies overnight, or the mental noise that just won’t let up—it can get exhausting. And let’s be real, that noise? It’s not always positive. In fact, sometimes it’s just plain draining.

Lately, I’ve found myself in those moments more than I’d like to admit. But I’ve also found a few simple things that help me reset—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. If you’ve been there too, here are 3 things that have made a real difference for me. Maybe they’ll help you, too.

3 Simple Ways I Quiet the Chaos

1. Write It All Down—Then Rip It Up

Grab a piece of paper (yes, actual paper—not your phone), and just start writing. Don’t overthink it. Don’t worry about spelling or grammar. Just let the thoughts flow.

Write down everything swirling in your brain—

“The house is a disaster.”

“I need to do laundry.”

“What are we going to eat for dinner?”

“I’m exhausted.”

“The dogs are driving me crazy.”

“It’s SO hot outside.”

“Why can’t I just get caught up?”

Let it all out. Big thoughts, small annoyances, even the ridiculous ones. This simple act gives your brain permission to release the mental clutter you’ve been carrying around.

Then—and this is my favorite part—rip it up. Seriously. Tear that paper to shreds and toss it in the trash. You don’t need to carry those thoughts around all day, and there’s something oddly satisfying about literally destroying that negative energy. (But hey, only if you want to. No pressure. 😉)

2. Step Outside—Even Just for a Few Minutes

There’s something about stepping out of the house—even for five minutes—that shifts your perspective. The laundry can wait. The dishes will still be there. But your peace of mind? That’s worth prioritizing.

Whether it’s a quick walk down the driveway, standing barefoot in the grass, or sitting on the porch with a glass of water—being outdoors gives your mind a chance to breathe.
You don’t need to have a full-blown nature retreat. Just let the fresh air remind you that the world is bigger than your to-do list. Look at the sky. Feel the sun. Hear the birds. Ground yourself in the present moment.

It’s amazing how just a little break outside can reset your mindset.

3. Replace the Noise With Worship

When my thoughts are spiraling, I grab my noise-cancelling AirPods, press play on my worship playlist, and let the music do what only God’s presence can—bring peace. Even if this is most of mine and your days. That’s ok!

Worship drowns out the negativity. Praise shifts the atmosphere. Gratitude replaces grumbling.

And here’s the truth: Negative noise can’t live in the same space as authentic praise.

Whether it’s a slow instrumental or a powerful anthem that reminds you who God is, worship helps recenter your heart. It doesn’t magically erase your problems, but it sure gives them a lot less power.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve been feeling stretched thin or mentally worn out, I hope these three simple steps offer you a bit of breathing room. They’re not fancy or time-consuming, but they’ve brought me peace even on the most overwhelming days.

So give yourself permission to slow down and reset. You don’t have to tackle everything at once. It’s okay to pause. It’s okay to find joy in the little wins. And when you’re ready to jump back in, take it one step at a time.

Dishes? ✅

Now toss in a load of laundry ✅

Set small, manageable goals—and celebrate each one before moving on to the next. Trust me, it makes a difference!

And hey, if ripping up that brain-dump list gives you even the slightest bit of satisfaction… go for it. It is my favorite part 😉
